Favourable judgment – mine’s future assured

On the 1st of December, the Land and Environment Court granted Kaunis Iron a new expanded environmental permit. The judgment enables Kaunis Iron to start two new open pits, Sahavaara and Palotieva. – This assures mining operations for the future and means that we can build in the long term, also for future generations, with prospecting for further new deposits, says Klas Dagertun, CEO of Kaunis

We are a new and modern mining company that mines iron ore, which we then refine and sell to the world market. Our unique iron ore concentrate, with its quality and environmental advantages, is already in high demand among the world's steel mills.

The aim is an annual production corresponding to 2.1 million tonnes of finished product.
